Sega Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit
Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10:46PM 9/9/99 that’s all I’ve got to say for those of you who know gaming. For that was the day Sega released one of the greatest consoles of all time, the Sega Dreamcast baby, oh yeah! However that’s not what this post is about, this post is about another little gizmo for that awesome system called the Visual Memory Unit. Think of it as a memory card fused with those old Nano Puppy things.
Just slide that bad boy in the top of your Sega Dreamcast controller and you’re set, of course if yours was new you had to pull the little tab thing first. Yes memory cards were around before this thing. I mean come on the Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64 had them, but let me ask you something. Did those have a screen on them, no I think not, and there rest my case. The Dreamcast VMU was a Sega original and a mighty fine one at that.
The Dreamcast VMU is just one of the things that made the system the legend it is today. Heck the Sega Dreamcast is still getting games made for it to this very day. Sure the Playstation 2 came along and killed it, but is that any reason to dismiss an awesome console? No, no its not.
