Windows Home Server

Windows Home Server or WHS as it will be known as during this blog, is a new server OS for home usage. Now what I love about WHS is the concept behind it. To sync all PC's over the network through the server, and have access to everything on whatever computer is on the network through the server. Also the free webaddress you can use to log on to your server and home computers remotely, from anywhere in the world.

This is stuff that I have dreamed of being able to do since I first started syncing files together through Briefcase in Windows 98 years ago.

The best part about it is that it backs up the entire hard drive, not just documents, videos, pictures, and music, but the entire hard drive, Operating System and all. The server backs everything up every night, or whenever you want it to do the scheduled backup. By doing this if your hard drive ever fails, instead of spending hours trying to get your system back to how it was before, which usually takes hours. Trust me I've been in that situation allot, reinstalling Windows is not my favorite thing to do.

When you purchase the new hard drive, you simply put it in your PC and then just insert the restore CD that came with the Server. Within an hour or just a little over the system will be back to the way it was before the little mishap.
